I Hustle Nation
For the last few weeks I've been held spellbound by this video blog. I mean completely transfixed. I first saw someone post the video on facebook and then I shared it myself. Before I knew it I was looking for more videos and trying to find dude on facebook to friend him!
I've become completely enamored with this fellow and you know why? Because dude speaks str8 truth. He keeps it 100%. Unfortunately some of what he says we (ladies AND gentlemen) don't want to hear. But I think once you open your mind and REALLY listen to what he is saying you realize its str8 truth.
As I'm new to the blog I believe there is only one author (Lewis) but he does speak in 'we' sometimes. I assume there are people who help with background work for the site but he is the face of it. His is the only email addy I see listed. If he is the only voice on the site super kudos to him!
I'm not even going to go into my whole listing of the pros and cons of this blog. Below you will find the first video I saw tell me what you think. To check out more videos go to ihustlenation.com and check them out: you WON'T be disappointed!

Expressions of a Buppie
This month the Blog of the Month is Expression of a Buppie. If you've been keeping up with the blog you know that I read Expressions of a Buppie every so often. I actually came across this blog back in January and it nudged me into the Blogging world. I read it every so often and thought.. "Hey I could do this. I'm opinionated and think people should listen to me haha" The Blog is great though.
A Buppie as some of you well know is a Black Urban Professional. The term is a spin off from the word Yuppie which is a Young Urban Professional. But more often than not its in reference to Caucasians. The blog is basically as its tagline states "Black. Urban. Professional. What is it like to be a 20-something navigating their way through life's maze and giving their 2cents on yours? Sometimes its random, sometimes funny, but at all times its real." When I initially became a reader of the blog there was only one author but now there are three. District Buppie, Up&Coming Buppie, and Dr. J (dude). District Buppie I believe is the first author and she asked some friends along for the ride and she is located in the DC area. Up&Coming Buppie I believe is from the DC Area as well but as I've been reading on and off the last few months I believe she is currently in Asia teaching English. As for Dr. J I haven't read a lot of his stuff on this stuff but he frequents other blogs and he always has a... uhhh.. interesting perspective on things lol.
Why I love this blog:
1. I love the variety. I definitely became interested in the blog because of the District Buppie's POV(point of view) but I really enjoy reading the other pieces as well. Up&Coming Buppie gives me a peak into life in Asia that I truly enjoy.
2. As stated in the tagline it IS real. I may have ranted once or twice on the blog... hence the reason why I didn't leave a comment the last time read it in regards to No God at Work. They had a guest blogger once that discussed his preference of dating White or Hispanic Woman instead of Black Woman and I went IN on a comment. But I love that it was REAL. I respected the opinion even if I thought his reasoning left something to be desired.
3. They use video: I've seen at least one video blog and I love the infusion of technology.. I don't need you guys stopping ME on the street once you know what I look like. I'm not that ready for that kind of fame. I certainly applaud their efforts though. Kudos to you District Buppie!
What I don't like about the blog:
Honestly there isn't much I dislike about this blog. They keep it up to date. They keep it real. And they do censor it. haha. I think that you readers would find something they like here: www.Buppie.blogspot.com Check it out!!

Three Ways To Take It
Its time for the BLOG OF THE MONTH! Owwwwwwwww!! This month I am going to highlight a blog that was introduced to me by my bestie (is it kosher to call a male friend a bestie? *shrug*) months ago. I actually ran up on this blog again because one of the authors for the blog also writes on another blog that I frequent. This blog is:
Three Ways To Take It "2 Guys. 1 Girl. Not a Train." That tag line cracks me up every time I read it. This blog is written by you guessed it two males and a female.. hence them naming it 3 ways. It gives the reader a much broader point of view to look at; which I love. The authors are Seattle Washington, Sowahtiff Jenkins aka Miss Jenkins, and Slim Jackson. They are even nominated for the 2009 Black Weblog Awards.
I love this blog because they keep me entertained when I am on a much needed break from work. The content on the blog is always interesting. I think as it stands my favorite post is "Things you should not say to Black people". Its eclectic they don't just write about dating, or sex, etc. Sometimes a sistah wants to forget about the dating scene and talk about something else. ANYTHING ELSE!!
There isn't much I don't like about this blog. They keep the explicit language to a minimum and majority of the material is tasteful.. Then again I did say the MAJORITY. There are some posts that make me raise an eyebrow (See post "You Don't Want No Face") Call me a prude if you want but I can't read an abundance of overly sexual material before I'm like oooook how bout them Knicks? That particular post isn't horribly bad *shrug*
Overall this blog is great and I think you will LOVE it. So please take a moment to check out Three Ways To Take It!! www.threewaystotakeit.com

ThePewView
This Month's Blog of the Month is a bit different... I actually haven't read this blog....technically. haha :-)
I get a Streaming Faith (www.StreamingFaith.com) Daily Devotional sent to my blackberry email every day. So around 3-5am my phone gets a lil bit of ministry. I love to read it on my way to work before truly start my day. I have been slacking on reading my bible everyday so I love that I still have some connection to the word.
The way it works is every day a different person does an entry and it is sent out to the masses. I have a couple of favorites but one writer in particular that I love is Milan Ford. He has a way of speaking that is just so right on. It is real and it is anointed and I just love it. I was glad to find out that he had a personal blog called ThePewView. Though I haven't had a chance to check the website out extensively I know his work is rich. And i URGE you to go to the site (http://thepewview.com/wordpress/) and take a read. Here is his latest one called Embracing Fear which left me meditating on the concept for a minute!!!
Embracing Fear
Milan Ford
Okay. I think it’s time to finally let this cat out the bag. I realize that for many of you, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise; but I’m going to take a chance and say it anyway for those of you (like me) who are still trying to figure this whole 'Christian life' thing out.
(Here it goes) Sometimes our God…just doesn’t make much sense. Now I realize that may sound a bit strange, but allow me to give you a few examples of what I mean:
In order to receive, He tells us we must (first) learn how to give. (Luke 6:38)In order to lead, He tells us we must (first) learn how to follow. (Mark 1:17)In order be successful in life, we must (first) learn how to fail (John 12:24-25).And in order to be confident, we must (first) learn you to be afraid (Proverbs 14:26)
Be afraid? Seems like strange advice coming from an all-mighty God, doesn’t it? I must admit I thought it was too until I read this passage in its entirety:In the fear of the Lord, there is strong confidence,His children will have a place of refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,It turns one away from the snares of death. (Proverbs 14:26-27)
I will never forget something I heard a long-time mentor of mine, Pastor Terrell Murphy, once say when I was still a junior in college: The Kingdom of God…is backwards.
While FEAR is something many of us seek to avoid, I believe now more than ever before that FEAR is something God wants us at times to embrace. Although difficult for us to grasp, the measure of FAITH we have in God can be directly related to the measure of FEAR we have of Him.
For example:
How many job opportunities have you passed up because you were AFRAID of what the employer may have said…rather than being AFRAID of the God who told you to apply? How many unfruitful relationships are you still holding on to because you are AFRAID of being alone…rather than being AFRAID of the God who has better ones in store?
(Haven't hit your row yet?) Well then how many speeding tickets have you received in the past because you were UNAFRAID of the consequences…rather than being AFRAID of the God who could have chosen to take your life in a traffic accident?Believe it or not, FEAR is not something we always have to back away from. Sometimes, FEAR is something we need to lean more into. FEAR is not an enemy to us who believe; but rather it is a tool of faith. A tool of confidence. And as many of us already know, a tool of wisdom. (Proverbs 1:7)
Today, let’s honor God with our lives and the decisions we make. This life is too precious and ripe for a great harvest not to FEAR Him.

Single Sisters Speak Out
This month's blog pick is Singe Sisters Speak Out (http://singlesisterspeak.wordpress.com/ ). This Blog is written by Four lovely ladies and one Male (Resident Male advisor). There are actually a lot of Blogs out there with more than one author.. Will Look Deeper Not Away every be one of them DOUBT IT!!! But I am thinking about starting another blog with some friends.. But I digress... The Blog gives you an eclectic view on The Modern Life of the Single Sister. They talk about any and everything; religion, dating, sex, fashion, etc. Each day a different writer throws up a post and usually it tantalizes my mind in such a way that i can't help but continue to come back for more. The different authors are: Jaclynn, NickiSunshine (My personal favorite), Anissa aka Cuzzo, Holly GoLightly aka Rockstar Holly, and Peyso the lone male.
Why I Love this Blog:
(1) They keep it real. I like the fact that they don't mind discussing taboo things. If any of you read the Confession Friday entry I wrote about my own Smashin the Homies incident I felt buoyed by this blog to even confess that.. Special.. smashed di homies.... Plus I can appreciate all things real and these ladies come correct.
(2) They interact with you. Some blogs have so many readers. Once people start jumping off on the comments they authors don't get a good chance to throw something in the comments themselves. They true.. but ehh they don't always do as good a job. On this site they are commenting along with you and its a group effort.. and that brings me to another thing I love about the blog.
(3) Its a team. They are all commenting on each others blogs and they look out for one another. One of the authors actually did an entry directed at a reader who seemed to consistently have negative comments about one persons entries. I didn't think it was mean or hateful (I did laugh at said readers expense Father Forgive Me!) but she let it be known that it was noticed and wasn't cool.
(4) They have a Bible Study.Church Notes section!! You guys know I love me some Jesus. I've been going from blog to blog checking out people's entries and a lot of the time he isn't mentioned so I was very happy to see some mention of my man JC on this site.
(5) They have a resident Male! Peyso is whassup. His entries I always find insightful and I definitely appreciate a different perspective. As females we sometimes tend to go to our female friends when we get stuck on a relationship issue when often more times than not we should probably get a guys opinion. Also.. it gives a window into the male mind.
Some reasons why you may not agree with my Blog choice for Blog of the month:
(1) A resident Male? Some chicks I've spoken to don't think there is a need for a male on a 'Single Sisters' site.. Hey everyone is allowed their own opinion.. But.. to you guys I say: Stop loving your ignorance.. It isn't lovable!
(2) They don't update their Church Notes enough for my liking.. I'd love to see more entries in that section. But then again.. who am I really to talk? lol My (Not so) Daily (But still) Bread section needs some refreshing.
(3) Explicit language... Yea they curse sometimes.. In the last year or so my eyes and ears have become sensitive to explicit language and I'm not a big fan of it.
All in all i think it is a Fab-tastic blog and if you get a chance to check it out (www.singlesistersspeak.wordpress.com ) I think you'd enjoy it as much as I do. And as always If you know of a blog that is fab-tastic please let me know (SomethinSpecialBlog@gmail.com). I'll check it out and who knows it could be next month's Blog of the Month

Raise An Eyebrow
This month's blog is: (drum roll please) Raise an Eyebrow!! http://raiseaneyebrow.blogspot.com/ Now you all know I am a lover of almost all things musical. And this blog delivers! Music is just so universal and has so much power. I mean it can evoke different emotions and when done right it can inspire some to great heights. I have music for all kinds of situations. I was known during undergrad to blast soca during finals week. I fall asleep to RnB. I wake up to alternative/rock. I ride the subway listening to Gospel more mornings than not. And a little bit of dancehall during my evening commute is a great pick me up. I mean me bustin di dance in di middle of the 4 or 5 train is always a sight to see!!
Why I love this blog:
(1) Music!! Its about my favorite subject. Lots of songs and videos for some of today's best artists. Duh that first paragraph was a dead giveaway.
(2) An abundance of info!! I don't watch much BET/MTV/VH1 so I am able to get the happenings of the music world from his blog. New artist, Album info, Comebacks, even info about where the Artist will be showing up to promote their albums. I mean there is just a PLETHORA (I like the way that word rolls off my tongue plethorrrrraaa) of information on the site for any music lover.
(3) Reliable Source! The author of the blog works for Sony BMG in a pretty bad @$$ position so the info on the blog need not be taken with a grain of salt. She is up on the happenings. She goes through meet and greets with the artists and quite frankly its her profession so she is knee deep in it.
Some reasons why you may not agree with my Blog choice for Blog of the month:
(1) I'm an avid reader.... Can a sistah get some more words please? Ms. Powers is a BIG tease! She will dangle Maxwell's new album under your nose with nary a worry...
(2) She's my sorors so you may think I'm biased... LMAO Two Blog of the Month's in a row I know I know!! But I can't help it if my sorors are just super cool geez.
(3) I think we should start flooding her inbox with pleas for artist interviews. Whose with me?!
I'm sure you'll find something useful on her blog to dig into: http://www.raiseaneyebrow.blogspot.com/
If you know of a blog that is fab-tastic please let me know. I'll check it out and who knows it could be next month's Blog of the Month

Bourgeosie On a Budget
This month's Blog of the month is (drum roll please!) Bourge(oisie) on a Budget. Now there are SO many reasons why I love this blog. As previously stated I don't 'do' shopping. Seriously; I go to the mall with friends and end up sitting outside with all the miserable husbands and boyfriends who wish their significant others will get out of the fitting wrong and go HOME!! Its horrible to watch. I sit and I pace and I whine. The ironic part about all of this is pretty much every guy I've dated has been into shopping (not hetero like.. more like metro like haha) and so I've been dragged to the mall by a significant other a time or two. The whining usually gets me out of it. But I digress this isn't about me its about Bourge!
Why I love this blog:
(1) Its on a Budget!! I love all things free and have a strong like for things that are a bargain price. My sisters call me cheap but... *shrug*
(2) It has RELEVANT budget items. Like the blog called "Late Discoveries" that revealed Reed Diffusers for me. I had got some as a gift and I had NO IDEA what they were or how to use them. I love burners and couldn't figure out where I was supposed to light the reed!
(3) It stresses the importance of financial planning. I was all for spending as little as possible when possible but I was HORRIBLE at saving. After going through this blog and hearing about the author (Who is equally fab-tastic might I add) doing a little financial planning I decided to get into the movement as well. I've started saving for short and long term things that I didn't think were important!!
(4) Its socially conscience!! The blog called "Supermarket Shuffle" highlights the lack of healthy foods in supermarkets in lower income areas. Areas where the residents are more likely to suffer from diabetes, high pressure, heart disease, etc. How can they be expected to make healthy food choices when the neighborhood (and possibly only accessible supermarket) serves high cholesterol, high fructose corn syrup, high calorie, and high PRICE items?
(5) It makes fashion interesting for even the likes of ME!
Some reasons why you may not agree with my Blog choice for Blog of the month:
(1) When she blogs its always great.. But she is so fab-tastic that she is busy and doesn't update enough!! SHOLLY!!! Don't do us this way!
(2) She's my sorors so you may think I'm biased... hahaha Hey think what you want but the blog is fab!
Now be a good reader and check out the blog. Even if you don't agree with me on all of this I'm sure you'll find something useful on her blog to dig into. www.bourgeoisieonabudget.blogspot.com
If you know of a blog that is fab-tastic please let me know. I'll check it out and who knows it could be next month's Blog of the Month
